We are a small rural primary school in the heart of a farming community in a delightful location with views across Morecambe Bay to the Lakeland Hills. We are situated approximately 6km NW of Garstang and 9km S of Lancaster, easily accessible from both directions and we have safe drop-off area for children. We strive to provide an excellent standard of education for our children which is broad and balanced, exciting and innovative and in an environment where each child feels safe, valued and cared for. We are encountering an exciting and challenging time in education as our school progresses in the 21st century and our ICT facilities and expertise are outstanding. In 2009, we were proud to receive the coveted BECTA ICT Mark in recognition of our achievements in ICT and in 2010, although we didn't do the 2010 SATs, but the 2009 SATs, we achieved 100% Level 5 Maths and 80% Level 5 in English, well above the national average. Our Mission Statement embraces our belief that we really are 'Making a Difference' to the young lives of the children in our care.
We have a Breakfast Club which operates every morning from 7.45am - 8.45am and all children are welcome to attend. Our After School Club operates 5 evenings per week from 3.30pm - 5.45pm. Click here for more details.
We are pleased to say that the Ofsted inspection on 22nd March 2007 judged our school as: "...a good school that is friendly and caring and provides pupils with a good standard of education." Click here to visit our MOODLE, which has been recognised as an example of innovative and creative practice and is well ahead of the Government's targets laid down in the Harnessing Technology agenda. email: janet@cockerham.lancs.sch.uk (Assistant Headteacher) |
